Sadie Margaret Meier

Sadie Meier, a 66-year resident of Harrison and a resident of Niobrara Nursing Home since 1977, died last Wednesday, June 3.

Sadie Margaret Meier was born on March 6, 1892, to George W. and Nancy Catherine Grimm. She was born in the Warbonnet community and lived there for some time before moving with the family to a ranch nine miles east of Harrison.

She married Edward G. Meier in July of 1911. They made their home in Harrison where Sadie lived until the summer of 1977 when she became a resident of the Niobrara County Memorial Nursing Home. She remained at the home until the time of her death.

The Rev. Herbert Schuler officiated at the memorial service Saturday held in Harrison at the Redeemer Lutheran Church. Ruth Hall was organist and hymns were sung by the congregation.

Interment was in the Harrison cemetery. Pallbearers were Clarence Schnurr, Alphonse Donahue, Jack Coffee, John Bourret, Dick Herren and Milford Brewster. Honorary bearers were Adolph Zurcher, Everett Parmely, John Broderick, Ord Anstey, Jack Parsons, George Schaefer and Charles Bourret.

Mrs. Meier is survived by a son, Melvin, of Lusk; a daughter Verla Emery of Grants Pass, Ore.; two brothers, Alvin of Portland, Ore., and Clyde of Spokane, Wash.; a sister Emma Watson, of Veradale, Wash.; six grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, a son Virgil and four brothers.
