Funeral services for Thelma Pearl Menzies were held at 2 p.m. Monday March 1 at Bader Funeral Home in Lusk with Rev. Larry Bartlett officiating. Burial followed in the Lusk Cemetery.

Thelma died Wednesday, February 24 at the Niobrara County Memorial Hospital in Lusk.

She was born November 29, 1915 in Watersmeet, Michigan, the daughter of Benjamin and Rachael St. John. Thelma was one of ten children.

She attended schools in Newberry, Michigan. After graduation she went to Wisconsin to work.

On May 23, 1937, she married Bruce V. Menzies in Manistique, Michigan. They moved to Casper, Wyoming in 1946. They bought the Ranger Hotel in Douglas, Wyoming where they resided until moving to Lusk.

Thelma was a great lover of the out of doors and enjoyed camping and hunting. Before taking sick she loved cooking meals for her friends and family. She loved flowers and gardening and also her handiwork of crocheting, knitting and was an excellent seamstress. She made lap blankets for the VA hospitals and many other organizations. She had the great gift of writing poetry, some of which has been set to music and loved by many.

Thelma loved going to the Rawhide Jamboree to hear the fiddles, guitars and singing. She also loved her dogs; she has given many strays a very good and loving home.

Thelma was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, five brothers and one granddaughter.

Survivors include her two daughters, Carol Guy and husband of Lio Linda, Calif. and Sandy Reich and husband of Brownwood, Tex.; three sisters, Nita Ogger of Linwood, Mich.; Pearl Hornbuckle and husband of Glenrock, Wyo. and Doris Baughman and husband of Lusk, Wyo.; ten grandchildren, thirty-one great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews and cousins.

For those who wish, memorials to the family for a memorial being established in Thelma's name will be appreciated. Bader Funeral Home in Lusk was in charge of arrangements.
