Robert Hugh Foster

Robert Hugh Foster, 68, died Dec. 28, 1996, at the Cherry County Hospital following a stroke.

He was born Dec. 1, 1928 to Walter and Clara Copeland Foster, near Valentine, Neb.

He attended grade school at Kewanee and graduated from Valentine High School with the Class of 1947. He served in the U. S. Army in the Korean War for two years.

He was a long-time rancher in this area and at Burke, S. D. He purchased the Bar B Que Corral Drive-In at Lusk, and operated it until 1990, when he retired.

He was a long-time member of the Masonic Lodge at Burke and the Elks Club in Lusk.

He was a friend to everyone. One would say "hello" and the friendship began.

He was a generous, kind and loving brother and uncle. He did not deserve more suffering, and though we had to give him up, we are thankful that God loaned him to us for these years. We will miss his thoughtfulness and generosity forever.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters Elsie Nagle, Mary Kluender, Minnie Woods and Irene Haase; brother Clem; nephew Jim Foster; great-nephew Logan DeVoogd; and great-niece Sheena Barstow.

Survivors include brothers Darrel and wife Martha, and Clair and wife Gertrude, both of Sparks, Neb., sisters Ruth and husband Otto Frauen, of Sparks, Darlene and husband Mick Ryschon of Valentine, and Janice Long and husband Mike of Chandler, Okla.; and a large circle of nieces, nephews and many friends.
