Christopher Edward Moore

Funeral services have been held at Fort Dix, Ga., for former Lusk resident Christopher Edward Moore, 23, of Fort Steward, Ga.

Christopher Moore died Oct. 21, 2003, in an automobile accident, just weeks after his return from serving for about a year with the U.S. Army, in Iraq and Kuwait.

Born in Vorhees, N. J., he attended Rancocas Valley High School in Georgia, and Niobrara County High School in Lusk.

He was a specialist E-4, serving as a Black Knight with the 3rd Infantry Division at Fort Steward, Ga. During his service in Iraq, his tank was hit by a missile that knocked it off it's tracks, but he was not injured.

Moore is survived by his wife, Colleen, and a son Ian Christopher Moore, of Fort Stewart; his father and step-mother William and Joann Moore of Franklinville, Ga.; his mother and step-father Darcey and Robert Nixon of Fishersville, Va.; five brothers and sisters, Joseph Smith of Franklinville, William Moore III of Woodbury, Ga., Kenneth Moore of Tennessee, Kelly Greager of Waynesboro, Va., Denise Smith of Fishersville, Va,; and a step-brother James Mayhugh of Franklinville; and his paternal grandfather, William Moore Sr. of Key Largo, Fla.
