Clem Mosier, resident since 1915, dies

Clem Mosier, longtime resident of Niobrara County, died at Niobrara Memorial Hospital last Wednesday, Oct. 27. Memorial service was held at Peet Mortuary Chapel on October 30 with the Rev. Daniel Gainer officiating.

Clem W. Mosier was born December 8, 1910, at Gordon, Neb. the son of Guy A. and Myrtle B. Mosier. The Mosier family came to Lance Creek in 1915 in a covered wagon and homesteaded the ranch which is still the Mosier home. He attended grade school at Lance Creek and high school at Manville, graduating in 1931. He completed the normal training course at Manville in 1932 and then began work with his father in the oil field. On December 20, 1936, he married Winifred E. Deuel at Lusk. They made their home at the family ranch which he operated until his retirement in 1972.

First elected a director for the Niobrara Electric Association in 1952 Mosier actively served as a board director until his death. He was a member of the Lance Creek Church, Lance Creek IOFF Lodge, serving in all of its offices and served one term on the Niobrara County School Board.

He is survived by his wife Winifred of Lance Creek; six children, Irene Spencer, Joplin, Mo., Lois Maston, Wheatland, Marilyn Joss, Keeline, Leo, Horicon, WI, G. A., Guernsey, and Ben of Lance Creek; one sister Velma Wilson, Citrus Heights, Calif.; 21 grandchildren and two great grandsons.

Organist at the service was Minerva Watson, Carolyn Hammond and Jeanne Gainer, sang "Mansion Over the Hilltop" and "The Love of God." Pallbearers were Jack Hammond, Robert Emery, Andy Nelson, Everett Kilmer, C. W. Ausborn, William Hern, Herbert Mangis and Paul Petty.

Interment was in Lusk Cemetery. Memorials to the Lance Creek Community Church would be appreciated by the family.
