Felix Nern Dies Feb. 13 in Nebr.
Felix William Nern, 99, died in the Good Samaritan Center at Gordon, Nebr., February 13. He was the father of Mrs. Harry (Faye) Baker of Hat Creek.
Memorial services were held in the Gordon Church of God, Saturday, with Pastor Carl C. Williams officiating, assisted by Melvin Grosenbach of the Gospel Chapel. Burial was in the Gordon Cemetery with Gates and Son Mortuary in charge of the arrangements.
He was the son of John and Catherine Nern, born at Baswell, Ind., February 22, 1874. He was married to Mary M. Meyers at Sioux City, Iowa September 9, 1898. They were the parents of one son and three daughters.
The Nerns lived at Newcastle, Nebr., until 1912 where he was engaged in farming and cattle feeding. That year they moved to the Sand Hills region south of Gordon, Nebr., where he was engaged in ranching. He also had a ranch north of Lusk. In 1942 he moved to Gordon where they resided until the time of his death.
His wife, a daughter and one son died previously.
Some six years ago Mr. Nern committed his life as a Christian.
Survivors besides Mrs. Baker of Hat Creek, Wyo., are two other daughters, Mrs. Chester (Grace) Skanador and Mrs. Orin (Raye) Slater, both of Gordon, Nebr., and a step-son Lee Meyers, also of Gordon; 16 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
