Marie Louise Owens

Marie Louise Owens, 92, died Monday, August 17, 1987 at the Niobrara County Memorial Nursing Home.

Rosary services will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday. A mass of Resurrection will be held at St. Leo's Catholic Church Thursday, Aug. 20 with Father Bernard Bianco officiating.

She was born Aug. 25, 1894 at Bee, NE, the daughter of John G. and Margaret Fitzpatrick Burger.

She went to school in O'Neill, NE, and came to Wyoming when she and her father homesteaded in the Rawhide Buttes area. She married Andrew L. Owens on Nov. 26, 1919, at St. James Catholic Church in Douglas. They were the parents of seven children.

She was a member of St. Leo's Catholic Church and St. Leo's Altar Society for many years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, son Edgar, daughter Evelyn, two granddaughters, five sisters and two brothers.

Survivors include three daughters, Louise Umphenour of Shelton, WA, Edna Blackmore of Lusk, and Virginia Fraser of Sundance; two sons, John Owens and Pete Owens, both of Casper; two sisters, Dorothy Berendt of Sioux City, IA and Betty Long of Wheatridge, CO; 10 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

For those who wish, memorials to the St. Leo's Catholic Church will be appreciated by the family. Peet Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
