Ray Pearce, life-long resident of Niobrara County, died at his home in the Ranger Apartments June 16 following a long illness. Memorial service was held Friday at Peet Mortuary Chapel with the Rev. Frank Blish officiating.

Phyllis Hahn was organist and Mark Lohr sang "In the Garden" and "Beyond the Sunset" during the service. Active bearers were Jess York, Lewis Landkamer, Charles Proctor, Donald Johnson, Dan Bayne, and Jim Groves. Interment was in Lusk Cemetery with military honors conducted by Weiten Dupes Post #4.

Memorials may be made to the heart fund.

Ray Franklin Pearce was born in Lusk April 25, 1921, the son of Phillip and Sadie Pearce. He was reared by his brother Athel and wife Ruth along with their son Donnie after his parents died in 1929. He received his schooling in Lusk and Lance Creek and was a member of the Congregational Church of Van Tassell. In 1942 he enlisted in the U S Army; and after being honorably discharged in 1945 he returned to Lusk to do ranching, construction work and work in the oil fields.

He is survived by his son Loren and two grandchildren, Desiree and John, four sisters Ethel Shelton, and Marie Jones of Long Beach, Calif., Bernice Pennington of Lusk and Leatha Zerbe of Casper; a number of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Athel, Ted and Cecil.
