James R. Pennington

Funeral services for James R. Pennington, 71, of Thermopolis, were held July 3, 2002 at the Congregational Church in Lusk with Gary Walker officiating. A memorial service was held in Thermopolis on July 6. At his request, the body was cremated.

James Pennington died June 30, 2002 at Manville.

He was born June 22, 1931 on the family homestead north of Lost Springs. He learned to drive at age seven and was driving stock trailers at age 13. He continued to drive truck throughout most of his life. He graduated from Manville High School in 1949 and was in the Army 1953-1955, serving in Korea.

He married Dottie Shoopman in 1953; they divorced in 1962. He married Marilyn Clark in 1963; she died in 1992.

Jim was a member of the Elks Club, VFW, Alumni Board in Lusk, Masons, Shriners, Methodist Church and assisted with Demolay.

He is survived by his children: Sharon Pennington of Bailey, Colo.; Brad and Thomas Pennington, both of Bennett, Colo.; Patty Wurzel of Powell; and Michael Pennington of Aurora, Colo.; a brother, Ted Pennington of Lost Springs; and a sister, Charlene Glandt of Cheyenne; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
