Emilia Jassman Anderson

Memorial services for Emilia Anderson, age 79, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 25, 1995, at the Bader Funeral Home in Lusk with Rev. Del Cowley and Rev. Delbert Dick officiating. Burial will follow in the Lusk Cemetery.

She died quietly, October 21, 1995, at the Weston County Memorial Manor in Newcastle.

Emilia Jassman Anderson was born February 10, 1916, to Amelia Buchholz and John G. Jassman in Lusk, the youngest of eight children. She grew to adulthood on the family homestead six miles northeast of Lusk. She attended rural school at Node and graduated from Lusk High School in 1937. She was active in the family home with the common ranch chores, milking cows, feeding pigs and tending to the annual corn and potato crops.

On November 10, 1938, she married Frances Gaylord Anderson in Lusk and they moved to the Anderson Family Ranch some 20 miles north of Lusk in the Hat Creek Community where they raised a sheep and beef cattle over the years. One child, a son, Andrew J. "Jack" Anderson, was born to them and raised there.

Emilia was a lifetime member of the First Baptist Church of Lusk and attended and supported rural church service as well with the American Missionary Fellowship in the Hat Creek Community. She was also a longtime member of the Hat Creek Ladies Club.

Emilia enjoyed writing poetry, crocheting and knitting in her spare time at home, but was always most interested in the care of the livestock and the care of the family home.

When poor health incapacitated her husband, she diligently cared for him and operated the ranch on her own from about 1980 to 1990. Her health began to fail badly in 1990 and she lived in her sister's, Sophie Klemke's, home in Lusk until June of 1993. She then moved to the Weston County Memorial Manor in Newcastle. She was a loving, loyal Christian friend to everyone and will be greatly missed.

Emilia is survived by her son Jack and a sister Kathryn Jugler both of Lusk; two grandsons, John and Steven Anderson both of the Denver, Colo. area. Other survivors include three sisters-in-law of the Lusk area and some twenty nieces and nephews living in Wyoming, Colorado, South Dakota and Minnesota.

She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, two sisters and her husband.

Memorials have been established to the First Baptist Church in Lusk or the Weston County Manor in Newcastle.

Bader Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
