Mary Ellen (Starks) Rasmussen

Mary Ellen Stark Rasmussen, 85, died June 4, 1999, from throat cancer at a care center in Mesa, Ariz.

She was born in Havre, Mont. June 3, 1914. Her father Lee W. and mother Mary C (Schmidt) Starks brought her to Wyoming at an early age, where she attended country and town schools and graduated from Lusk High School in June 1932. She chose a stenographic/secretarial career and married James C. Rasmussen while employed as secretary to William Armor of Great Plains Insurance Co. She worked in the "oil patch" for 10 years. Retiring in 1979 from the State of Wyoming Rehabilitation Department in Casper. She moved to Mesa Ariz. in 1985.

She was Episcopalian in faith and past president of both Casper B.P.O.E. Does and Casper Desk and Derrick Club.

Her hobbies were traveling, and she visited all 50 of the United States; reading, she had a large library, and listening to music, a large collection of old and new records and tapes.

Preceded in death by her parents and husband, she is survived by a brother, Lee, a resident of Arizona; a nephew Ronald and an uncle Roy Starks, both residing in the state of Washington.

After cremation services in Phoenix, her ashes were taken for interment with her husband in Casper Memorial Gardens.
