Pearl Riley

Funeral service was being held this Wednesday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. for Pearl Riley, former Lusk resident and grocery and fruit market operator, who died in a Las Vegas, Nev. hospital Saturday at the age of 84.

The Rev. Frank Bozart was officiating at the service at Peet Mortuary Chapel. Organist, Mrs. Minerva Watson, was accompanying Wayne King as he sang "In Times Like These" and "Sweet Bye and Bye."

Casket bearers were to be Harry Tallman, L. T. Bonner, John Goddard, Richard Schnorenberg, Ab DeCastro, and Frank Kuhn. Burial was to be in the Lusk Cemetery.

Pearl Jessie DeShazer Riley was born Sept. 16, 1892, at Parnell, Mo., the daughter of Luke and Annie DeShazer. She was one of fifteen children. She married Glen E. Riley Feb. 21, 1912, at Marryville, Mo. The family moved to Lusk in 1955 where they operated grocery and fruit markets until 1967. Mrs. Riley has been living with a daughter Blanche Lundy in Las Vegas, Nev. since 1973. She was a member of the Methodist Church.

Survivors are four sons and two daughters: Ray J. of Rosebud, Ark., Frank E., Ogden, Utah, Clyde E. Grand Island, Neb., Blanche Lundy of Las Vegas, Nev., Mrs. Clayton (Opal) George, Idaho Falls, Ida., and Kenneth L., Las Vegas, Nev. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, 17 step-great-grandchildren and one sister Goldie Pettigrew, of Pasadena, Calif.

She was preceded in death by her husband, and thirteen brothers and sisters.
