Evelyn M. Robertson of Van Tassell died Tuesday, June 11, 1985, at Community Hospital in Torrington.

She was born Jan. 30, 1915.

She is survived by her husband, Warren of Van Tassell; daughters, Kay Holmes of Van Tassell and Leah Ballou of Hulett, and a son, Clyde of Van Tassell.

Funeral services will be 2 pm. Saturday at Peet Chapel. Burial will be in Lusk Cemetery.

Evelyn M. Robertson


Evelyn M. Robertson of Van Tassell died Tuesday, June 11, 1985, at Community Hospital in Torrington. She was 70.

The daughter of Walter and Katherine Meier, she was born Jan. 30, 1915, on the family ranch north of Van Tassell.

Mrs. Robertson attended grade school at the ranch and high school in Harrison, Neb. She married Lee Shepherd in 1934. The parents of two girls, they lived on a ranch 16 miles north of Harrison.

After Mr. Shepherd's death in 1946, she moved to Harrison. She married Warren Robertson Nov. 28, 1947. They lived in Lingle before moving to the ranch seven miles north of Van Tassell in 1950. They were the parents of one son.

Mr. and Mrs. Robertson were active square dancers for many years. She also loved gardening.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Lee Shepherd and her parents.

Survivors include her husband, Warren of Van Tassell; two daughters, Leah Ballou of Hulett and Kay Holmes of Van Tassell; a son Clyde of Van Tassell; two sisters, Lorraine Duckworth of Alliance, Neb., and Mildred Zerbst of Lusk; a brother, Walter Meier of Aurora, Neb., and seven grandchildren, Misty Lowe of Lance Creek, Cody Ballou and Kristy Ballou of Hulett, and Rich, Tori and Kelli Robertson, all of Van Tassell.

Memorial services were Saturday, June 15, at Peet Mortuary Chapel in Lusk. The Rev. Delbert Dick officiated. Burial was in Lusk Cemetery.

Donations may be directed to the American Cancer Fund or the Niobrara County Ambulance Fund.

Peet Mortuary handled arrangements.
