Christ Ruffing, Resident Since 1898, Dies Sat.

Christ Ruffing, 84, died Saturday at Evanston from a cerebral hemorrhage. Funeral services were held Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. from St. Leo's Catholic Church with Father M. J. McBrien officiating. Burial was in the Lusk cemetery.

Active casket bearers were C. A. David, Albert DeGering, Ray DeGering, Ben Seikert, Glen Langley and Woodson Graham. Honorary casket bearers were Dudley Fields, Jake Wahl, Billy Smyth, Hans Meng, Richard Pfister, Sr., J. P. Jensen and Harry Boner.

Christ Ruffing was born Nov. 2, 1872 in Wisconsin coming to Wyoming in 1898. In 1899 he was married to Gertrude Marking and they were the parents of nine children.

As a young man he worked for the Chicago and Northwestern Railroad and later homesteaded the ranch which is located 30 miles north of Lusk. Here he made his home for 58 years.

Survivors include eight children; Mrs. Monica Erny, Alliance, Neb.; Mrs. Beatrice Avenell, Edgemont; Henry, Jennings, and Albert, Lusk; Edward of Basin; Robert, Portland, Ore.; Mrs. Thelma Nuxoll, Yankton, So. Dak.; 19 grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

His wife; one daughter, Luella; eight brothers and two sisters previously died.

Out-of-town relatives attending the services were Mr. and Mrs. Carl Erny and daughter, Mrs. Wm. Potmesile, Alliance ; Mrs. Beatrice Avenell, Edgemont; Mr. and Mrs. Edward Ruffing, Basin; Thelma Nuxoll, Mrs. Grace Modereger, Yankton, S. Dak., Mrs. Jean French, Torrington and John Ruffing of Seattle, Wash.
