Floyd E. Engebretsen, age 89, of Keeline passed away on Sept. 13, 2005 at the Niobrara Health and Life Center in Lusk.

Floyd was born Oct. 27, 1915 in Sioux County, Harrison, Neb. on his parent's ranch where he lived and worked until his marriage to Wanda Hall on March 13, 1941. They moved to his ranch in Keeline, where he was a very successful rancher all his life including a time spent as a roustabout in the Lance Creek oilfield.

After the death of his first wife, Floyd married Ria Dunlap. He was a great one to visit with and reminiscence about his life. His grandchildren enjoyed his stories about his experiences and escapes as a rancher. Floyd was especially proud of his accomplishments in farming, ranching and raising his herd of Herefords. He took many honors at the 4-H fairs and exhibits with his steers and calves being showed by his sons and granddaughter.

Floyd is survived by his wife, Ria of Keeline, his children and their families, Nels and his wife Lynna Faye of Douglas; Chuck and his wife Mary of Lost Springs; Pat and her husband Fred Kagie of Gilbert, Ariz.; Monika and her husband Doyle Davies of Lusk; Tom Dunlap of South St. Paul, Minn.; Heide and her husband, Randy Sides of Casper, and one brother Morris Engebretsen and his wife Alda of Harrison, Neb.; and family and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Wanda, five brothers, two sisters, one half-sister and two nephews.

The service was held at St. Paul's Lutheran Church Saturday Sept. 17, 2005 at. 2 p.m. the family would appreciate donations in his memory at St. Paul's Lutheran Church or the Niobrara Health and Life Center in Lusk. Cicmanec-Pier Funeral Home in Lusk is in charge of the funeral arrangements.
