Esther Schroefel service

Esther Schroefel (92), a pioneer resident of Niobrara County died at Gra Mar Manor Nursing home in Scottsbluff, Nebr., at 3:00 a.m., Feb. 24.

She was born in Altona, Ill., Oct. 16, 1884 the daughter of Lewis and Helen Lind. She moved to Wyoming with her parents when she was three years old, where they homesteaded eight and one half miles northeast of Lusk.

In 1915 she married Edward H. Schroefel and they made their home on the ranch until they retired and moved to Lusk in 1952.

Mrs. Schroefel was a member of the Lusk Congregational Church and was active in the church circle and many clubs and other community affairs until ill health forced her to reside at the Gra Mar Manor of Scottsbluff in 1971.

Survivors are one son, Warren H. Schroefel of Torrington; two grandchildren, Warren E. of Casper and Gloria Hauptman of Glendale, Ariz., and six great-grandchildren. Memorials are to the Niobrara Nursing Home.

Funeral service was held at the Peet Mortuary Chapel Feb. 26 with Rev. Frank Bozart officiating.

Mrs. Jane Bardo, organist, accompanied Mark Lohr as he sang "Rock of Ages" and "The Old Rugged Cross."

Casket bearers were H.E. Hansen, Jennings Ruffing, Richard Lenz, Robert Vollmer, Graydon Hoblit and Dale Fullerton. Interment was in the Lusk Cemetery.
