Doris E. Schutt, 74, Edgemont, S. Dak. passed away Sunday, January 17 at Rapid City Regional Hospital after an extended illness with heart disease.

Visitation was January 20 at Isburg-VandeBossche Chapel of Edgemont.

Funeral services were held January 21 at St. James Parish Hall in Edgemont with Richard Harbur and Michael Muhm speaking. Burial was at Edgemont Cemetery, Edgemont, S. Dak.

Doris was born June 1, 1924 in Crawford, Nebr. to Carl A. and Lillie E. (Ring) Pearson. She attended grade school at the Fairview School in Niobrara County, Wyoming and attended high school in Lusk, where she graduated in 1943. In the summer of 1944 she went to college in Chadron, Nebr. with her sister, Alice, her life-long best friend. She then taught school at Pine Knot in Niobrara County for a year.

She was married to Roy Schutt in Lusk on August 19, 1946. They lived at Mule Creek until 1961 when they moved to Edgemont, S. Dak.

Doris was a wonderful, warm and caring person who wanted to help everyone, she never met a stranger. Her hobbies included her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and extreme love of cats, music and being with people.

Doris is survived by her husband, Roy, of Edgemont, S. Dak.; two sons, Alfred and his wife, Patty, of Edgemont; Phillip and his wife Chris of Custer, S. Dak.; two daughters, Ellen Simons and her husband, John, of Gillette, Wyo., and Arlene Simons and her husband, Leo, of Gillette, Wyo.; ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, one sister Alice Sheaman of Gillette, Wyo., and her cat Tish. Doris was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Earl.

A memorial has been established.

Arrangements were under the care of Isburg-VandeBossche Chapel of Edgemont, S. Dak.
