Alice L. Sheaman

Funeral services for Alice L. Sheaman of Gillette, formerly of Lusk, were conducted Dec. 6, 2002, in Gillette with Clarence Nelson and Donovan Olson officiating. Graveside services were held Dec. 7, 2002, in the Lusk Cemetery.

She died Dec. 4, 2002, at Campbell County Memorial Hospital in Gillette, from an extended illness with heart disease.

Born March 31, 1926, at her parents' ranch near Old Woman Creek in Niobrara County she was the daughter of Carl and Lillie (Ring) Pearson. She attended grade school at Fairview, and graduated from Lusk High School in 1944.

She attended Chadron College with her sister Doris, her lifelong best friend. She taught at the Larson Hales School for a year, then at the Cheyenne River School the following year.

On Aug. 21, 1946, she married Robert Sheaman in Lusk.

For the next several years, they worked on different ranches in the Lusk, Hat Creek and Lance Creek areas, including Eddie Rumney, Henry Wasserburger, Hobart Cockerham and the Johnson sisters. She drove the school bus for 10 years until moving to Casper for four years.

In the fall of 1969, the couple moved to Gillette, where they owned and operated Service Master for 15 years before retiring.

A committed Christian since the summer of 1948, she greatly loved her family and friends and had a special fondness for her cats.

Survivors include her husband of 56 years of Gillette; two sons, Gerald Sheaman of LaPorte, Colo., and Kerry Sheaman of Ft. Collins, Colo., a daughter Evelyn Wall of Cheyenne; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Earl Pearson; and a sister, Doris Schutt.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, in care of Stevenson-Wilson Funeral Home, 210 W. Fifth St., Gillette, WY. 82716.
