Clara L. Shindoll

Services for Clara L. Shindoll, 96, were held Monday, Oct. 14, at 2 p.m. at the Bader-Peet Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Muriel Michaels officiating. Burial followed in the Lusk Cemetery.

Shindoll died Wednesday, Oct. 9, 1991, at the Niobrara County Nursing Home in Lusk. She was born Oct. 21, 1894, in Fosston, Minn., the daughter of Andrew and Louise Johnson. She attended school in Fosston and moved to Montana at the age of 18. She later moved to Lusk and worked for Snyder Mercantile for several years.

She moved to Douglas where she met and married Clarence Schroeder on July 3, 1927. They were involved with motel management and lived in Kimball, Neb., Torrington, Denver, Colo., and Belle Fourche, S.D. Clarence passed away Feb. 29, 1964 in Belle Fourche.

Clara later married Herb Shindoll on March 12, 1965, at Bell Fourche. He preceded Clara in death on Dec. 6, 1971. Following his death, Clara moved back to Lusk where she lived the remainder of her life.

Besides both husbands and her parents, Clara was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.

Survivors include one brother, Oscar H. Johnson of Gully, Minn. and one sister, Lillian Schippers of Cheyenne, plus numerous nieces and nephews.

For those who wish, memorials to the Lusk First Baptist Church or to the Niobrara County Nursing Home will be appreciated by the family.

Bader-Peet Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
