Services for Jessie Siemsen, 96, will be held Thursday, March 25, 1993, at 2 p.m. at the Bader-Peet Mortuary in Lusk. Burial will follow in the Lusk Cemetery. She died Sunday, March 21, 1993 in Worland, Wyo.

Siemsen was born Oct. 10, 1896, in Worthington, Minn., the daughter of John William and Cora Belle (Scott) Burkhart. The family moved to a homestead eight miles north of Van Tassell in 1909, where she was raised and educated at the Sunnyside School.

As a young girl, she attained her dressmaking skills while working for Swanson Dressmaking and Millinery Shop in Douglas.

On Dec. 10, 1914, she married John P. Siemsen at Van Tassell, Wyo. They ranched east of Lusk until retirement in 1960 when they moved to Lusk. He died in 1976. She lived with her daughter in Thermopolis from 1987 until 1992.

She was a member of the Congregational Church and church auxiliary, Fancy Farmers' Garden Club, Tumbleweed Club, Lusk Woman's Club, Cowbelles, Rebekah Lodge (past Noble Grand), Niobrara Hospital Auxiliary and Niobrara Senior Center all of Lusk.

Her hobbies included sewing, crocheting, playing cards and reading.

Survivors include her daughter, Irene S. Curtin of Thermopolis; a sister, Eva Marts of Gregory, S.D., four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, a son, Nyal Siemsen and two sisters, Pearl VanDine and Ethel Warnock.

Memorials to the Congregational Church, Niobrara Senior Citizens Center or the charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family.
