Arnold Edward Slagle

Services for Arnold Edward Slagle, a World War II veteran who just retired in Lander, Wyo., were held Thursday, Aug. 20, 1992, at Mount Hope Cemetery at 2 p.m. The Rev. Lee Van Sickle officiated.

Slagle died Monday, Aug. 17, 1992, at the Lander Valley Medical Center. He was born Sept. 8, 1915, in Overland, Kan., the son of Zula (Walker) and Newton Slagle.

He married Dorothy Daily in Scottsbluff, Neb., on Nov. 18, 1936.

Slagle served in the U. S. Navy during World War II.

Slagle lived and worked in Lusk during the 1950s. He was a mechanic at Plains Equipment Company for about six years. His son, Jack, graduated from Niobrara County High School in 1956. His son, Gary, attended elementary and junior high schools in Lusk.

Slagle retired in 1977. The Slagles moved to Lander in August from Corning, Calif.

He is survived by his wife of Lander; two sons, Jack of Lander and Gary of Casper; three brothers, Lee Slagle of Albuquerque, N.M.; Lloyd Slagle of Basin and Don Slagle of Thermopolis; a brother-in-law, Fred Lackey of Thermopolis; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Lorena Lackey and a brother, Ernest.
