Earl Allen Slagle

Funeral services for Weston County rancher, Earl A. Slagle, 56, were held October 10, 1988 at the First Baptist Church in Newcastle. Rev. David Barkey officiated. Burial followed in the Fort Lee Cemetery near Clareton, Wyoming under the direction of Colley Funeral Home.

Mr. Slagle died unexpectedly October 6, 1988 of a heart attack while hiking on Harney Peak near Hill City, S.D.

He was born September 3, 1932 at Scottsbluff, NE, the son of Earl and Harriet (Baker) Slagle. He grew up north of Lance Creek on the family ranch at Liverette, WY. He attended rural schools and was a graduate of Manville High School. In 1960 he married Betty Steinle at Bill, WY. The couple lived on the family ranch until 1973. At that time they moved to their present ranch in the Clareton area southwest of Newcastle.

He is survived by his wife Betty; one son, Allen of Newcastle; three daughters, Ann Van Der Molen of Upton, Sue Mireles of Douglas and Georgia Slagle of Newcastle; one niece, Connie Slagle; two brothers, John of Salt Lake City, UT and Ernest of Ft. Ludlow, WA; two sisters, Ilene Hall of Granbury, TX and Betty Rumney of Newcastle; one granddaughter, Veronica Mireles.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
