Dale Dean Terrell

A memorial service for Dale Dean Terrell, 72, was held at Bader Funeral Home in Lusk on January 21.

Military services were held at the Valley View Cemetery in Torrington. Cremation had taken place.

He died January 18 at Veteran's Hospital in Hot Springs, S. Dak. after a long illness.

He was born February 18, 1926 in Trenton, Nebr., the son of George and Carrie (Bucknell) Terrell.

He went to various schools in the Goshen County area.

He served in the Navy from May 1944 until his discharge in June 1946. He served in the Asian Pacific and the American Theatre during World War II and attained the rank of seaman first class.

He married June Lois Miller on August 11, 1946 in Torrington.

He farmed around the Torrington and Hay Springs, Nebr. areas for years. He was foreman of the Colt Track Ranch of Douglas and moved to Lusk from Douglas in 1974. He worked for the Niobrara County School District and retired in 1992. He worked for the Lusk Herald newspaper until he was too ill to continue.

He was a lifetime member of the VFW Bryant Kant Post 10390.

He was a special man who loved life. He always had a smile, a joke or a story to tell. His family was the most important thing in the world to him and he to his family.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, June; three daughters, Judy Phipps of Lusk, Jan Kolbet of Douglas and Linda Benson of Casper; three sons-in-laws; three sisters, Inez Cheeney of Ten Sleep, Bernice Riley of Casper, and Chloa DeVoge of Bountiful, Utah; five brothers, Glen, Hubert and Marvin of Torrington, Elvin of Chadron, Nebr., and Raymond of The Dalles, Ore.; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters and one grandson.

Memorials may be made to the Niobrara County Ambulance Service in Lusk.
