Services for Reba H. Thomas, 69, were held Saturday, Sept. 1, 1990, at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Spearfish, S.D. with Pastor Brent Steffens officiating. Thomas died Tuesday, Aug. 28, at the Rapid City Regional Hospital in Rapid City, S.D. Burial was in Douglas Park Cemetery in Douglas under the direction of Jolley Memorial Chapel of Spearfish. Visitation was held Friday at the Jolley Memorial Chapel.

A memorial has been established to the Sturgis Community Health Care Center.

She was born July 4, 1921, at Andrews, Neb. to Percy Eli Haworth and Bula May (Hutson) Haworth. The spring of 1925, the family moved to Orin Junction, Wyo., where she attended school. After graduating from Douglas High School in 1939, she attended business college in Casper and later worked various positions in that area.

On Feb. 6, 1948, she married John Thomas in Casper. They lived in various locations while working for the Veterans Administrations before finally settling in Rapid City in 1957. They then moved to Sturgis in 1964. From 1966 to 1986, she worked at the Sturgis Community Health Care Center where she was an accredited record Technician and head of the medical records department. In 1986, she moved to Spearfish and had resided there since that time.

Survivors include one son, Steven Thomas of Gillette; one daughter, Rebecca (Mrs. Jeff) Sukstorf of Spearfish; two sisters, Bernice Reed of Lance Creek, and Frances Gillespie of Lusk; three nieces and one nephew; five grandchildren; Anna Sukstorf, Elise Sukstorf, Nicholas Sukstorf, Jesse Thomas and Stephanie Thomas.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Merle Haworth and Percy Elvin Haworth, her parents, John Thomas, and her son Jac Thomas.
