Isabella Thrasher

Private family memorial graveside services will be held for Isabella Thrasher, 89, at the Jireh Cemetery near Keeline. Mrs. Thrasher died at Community Hospital in Torrington on Sunday, May 21, 1995. Memorial gifts to the First Wyoming United Presbyterian Church would be appreciated by the family, in care of Steve Thresher, P.O. Box 142, Yoder, Wyoming 82244.

Isabella was born November 18, 1905, at Traer, Kans., the daughter of John H. and Theresia (Leitner) Schramel. The family moved to Lincoln, Neb. where she grew up and received her education. She attended the University of Nebraska and then came to Wyoming as a pioneer school teacher in a country school near Keeline in 1925. She married Harold Thrasher in Gering, Neb. on June 1, 1927 and they lived north of Keeline until 1939. After the death of her husband, she resumed her schooling at the University of Wyoming and then taught at various Wyoming Schools, including Jay Em, Lingle, and Torrington. She retired in 1970 and then was a substitute teacher.

She was a member of the First Wyoming United Presbyterian Church, the Eastern Wyoming Retired Teachers Association and Delta Kappa Gamma.

She is survived by a son, Paul Stanley Thrasher of Gillette; five grandchildren, Steven Thrasher of Yoder, Loretta Westbrook of Jackson, Leslie Glass of Bismarck, N.D., Jay Thrasher of Douglas and Mike Thrasher of New Orleans, Louisiana; four great-grandchildren, Stacey Schnell of Scottsbluff, Neb., Scott Thrasher of Yoder, Andrea Gladson of Nampa, Idaho, and Lilly Herro of Jackson.

She was preceded in death by her husband and one sister, Susan Jones.

The Colyer Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
