Charlene Kaye Waldock

A gathering of friends and family of Lusk resident Charlene Kaye Waldock, 60, is planned for late spring at her home.

She died Dec. 10, 2002, at Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff, Neb. Her body has been donated to the University of Colorado Medical School for research.

Born April 4, 1942, in Pontiac, Mich., she was the daughter of Doyle and Avalene Dortch. She was raised and educated in Pontiac, where she participated in many high school activities. She was an accomplished cornet player in the high school band.

For a number of years, she competed in "the barrels" on the rodeo circuit as an adult.

On November 24, 1984, she married Richard Waldock in Wheatland.

They later moved to Lusk and she remained active in the family business until her death.

A member of the Wyoming and Niobrara County Cattlewomen and Niobrara Country Club, she was an avid tennis, bridge and blackjack player.

Survivors include her husband of 18 years of Lusk; daughter Heather Poe of Fort Payne, Ala.; son Jeffrey Scott of Kalamazoo, Mich., stepson Quentin Waldock of Lusk; two stepdaughters, Audrey Waldock of Pittsburgh and Julie Smith of Casper; two sisters, Edna Percy and Wendy Wren of Bloomfield Hills, Mich.; a grandson; three step-granddaughters; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter Heidi; and two sisters, Betty Gaye Maddox and Donna Raye Dortch.

Memorials may be made to Regional West Medical Center or the American Heart Association.
