Norma McLain Roberts Ward

Our mother passed away on September 7, 2000. She was born February 17, 1929 in Lusk, Wyo. and raised on her family's ranch. She, her husband and three children moved to Manhattan Beach in 1956, where she resided until her death. Mom went to work for the Polynesian restaurant located in Walteria, in the gift shop and worked her way up to manager. She also was banquet manager for Bob Ruben at the Old Pen & Quill (now Barnabys). She then went to work for Bob Tepper, a good friend at Tepper Bar Supply. Her final employment was with Oakwood Garden Apartments in Marina Del Ray.

Mom made many lasting friendships professionally but her generosity, intelligence and humor left an incredible mark on her family, and all those who passed through her door. Mom's home was always open to anyone who needed a place to stay. Her compassion and humor were always there for anyone who needed a lift. If acts of kindness were measured as wealth, she was a rich woman and all who knew her benefited her generosity. No one will ever pass by her home and not remember her face in the window. Our mom was preceded in death by her parents, Nell G. McLain and Floyd J McLain; sister Jean Shieper and husbands Ace Roberts and Gene Ward. She leaves behind four daughters; Terri (Patrick) Mullin, Sheila Wood, Barbara (Kevin) Greenwood, Marci Aiau. One son Kevin (Jana) Roberts, sister, Patricia David, ten grandchildren; Nella Soto, Alison Mullin, Sean and Peyton Roberts, Brianna, Brandon and Brooke Aiau, Glen Angell, Heather and Sean Greenwood and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial celebration of Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, September 15, 2000 at 11 A.M. at American Martyrs Catholic Church, 624 15th St. Manhattan Beach, Ca. Private inurnment will be in Lusk, Wyo.
