Steven "Bruce" Wickersham

Steven "Bruce" Wickersham, 56, of Bondurant died Jan. 6, 2007 in a vehicle accident on Dell Creek, near the Little Jennie Ranch, Bondurant.

He was born April 26, 1950 to Norman (Norrie) Wickersham and Doris (Dout) Wickersham at Lusk.

He attended elementary school at District 76 in rural Sioux County, Harrison, Neb. and High School at Sioux County High, graduating in 1968.

Bruce was an avid outdoorsman. He loved hunting, trapping and riding. His love for the Wyoming mountains was unquenchable. Being in the outdoors chasing cows with his dogs, or hunting was his life. Raising and training quality quarter horses with the X hanging four brand on the hip was a life long passion. Many of his horses are spread through the country. He was an accomplished braider of leather and an excellent cook, both indoors and over a campfire.

Bruce worked on several ranches in Sioux County. He also worked construction several years. He spent many years on the home ranch before moving to Cody in 1988. There, he rode range and did some outfitting and worked for several ranchers. He rode range at Cooke City and Dixon among other places before going to the Little Jennie Ranch in 2004. Little Jennie is where he called "home" until his death. During the winter months he would come back to the home ranch at Harrison, Neb.

The spring of 2006, Bruce won a hunting trip to South Africa and spent the last months of his life planning and preparing for his trip.

He leaves to mourn him: his parents, Norrie and Doris of Harrison, Neb.; brothers Scott and wife Michelle of Glenrock; Mike of Harrison, Neb.; Neal of Concord, Calif.; Dale of Riverton; sister Becky and husband George Serres of Crawford, Neb.; along with many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. His family loved him dearly and will miss him greatly.
