Funeral services for Inez Mae Benshoof, age 95, were held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, July 12, 1989, at The Church at Jay Em. Burial followed at the Jay Em Cemetery. A memorial has been established to the church.

She died on Sunday, July 9, 1989, at the Goshen County Memorial Nursing Home. She was born Jan. 5, 1894, on a farm south west of Wayne, Neb., the daughter of Perry and Rozella (Bennett) Benshoof. She attended country school and Wayne State Normal College and the University of Wyoming at Laramie.

In 1913, she moved with the family to a homestead southwest of Van Tassell, Wyo. When she was 21 years old, she filed on a homestead near her parents. She taught school in her brothers homestead shack for four years. She then taught school for nine years in Goshen, Niobrara, Fremont and Platte counties. She worked in the Jay Em Bank for several years and she was also appointed Postmistress at Jay Em and held that position for 13 years. During these years, she was in business with Lake Harris in the Jay Em Hardware Store. After her retirement, she kept busy in her home until she entered Goshen County Memorial Nursing Home in 1983.

She was a member of the Church at Jay Em.

Survivors include one brother, Lundy Benshoof of Spokane, Wash.; one sister, Ruby Hahn of Torrington; and ten nieces and nephews and their spouses.

She was preceded in death by one brother, one sister and two nieces.
