Hazel Marie Bertram

Funeral services for Hazel Marie (Mills) Bertram of Lusk were held Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. at the Bader-Peet Mortuary Chapel in Lusk.

Mrs. Bertram died Friday, May 28, 1993 at the Niobrara County Nursing Home in Lusk. She was born in Hay Springs, Nebraska on September 5, 1905 to Floyd and Lucy (Johnson) Mills.

On April 16, 1921, she married Fred A. Bertram in Chadron, NE. They traveled to the Lusk area on their wedding trip and remained to homestead north of Lusk, later selling the homestead and moving to Lance Creek to work in the oil fields in 1935.

After the couples retirement they moved to their present ranch located west of Lusk.

In 1983 Hazel moved into the Niobrara County Nursing Home and continued living there until her death.

Hazel enjoyed her family and friends, gardening and her Arabian horses. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and the Lutheran Ladies Aide.

Hazel was preceded in death by her husband Fred in 1987, her parents, Floyd and Lucy Mills, 6 sisters, 3 brothers, and son-in-law Ruben Boatright.

Survivors include daughter, Violet Boatright of Lusk; two granddaughters, Terry Brown of Lusk and Cindy Olson of Malta, Montana; four great-granddaughters, Toni Kant of Lance Creek, Hope Brown of Lusk, Jami and Jodi Miller of Malta, Montana; one great-grandson, Jordan Olson of Malta, Montana; one great-great-granddaughter, Coral Lynn Kant of Lance Creek, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorials to Niobrara County Nursing Home will be appreciated by the family.

Bader-Peet Mortuary in Lusk is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation was held Monday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Tuesday from 9 a.m. until the time of service. Interment was in the Lusk Cemetery.
