Second Son of Gilbert Hughes Dies of Polio Sun.

A second son of the Gilbert Hughes family of Flattop died Sunday night about 10:00 o'clock as the result of bulbar polio.

He is Terry Wayne, 9. His brother, 4-year-old Gilbert Lester, died Dec. 3 after an illness of less than three days. Terry became ill Dec. 1 and has been treated at the Niobrara Memorial Hospital since.

A third brother, Harvey Dean, 8, who became ill about the same time, has been taken to Hot Springs polio hospital for special treatment.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon from the Peet Mortuary with the Rev. F.C. Doctor, pastor of St. Paul’s Ev. Lutheran Church, officiating. Pallbearers wee Loren Smith, Lowell Smith, John Hughes and Gene Bass. The song, "Does Jesus Care," was sung by Mrs. H.J. Templeton and Mrs. A.F. DeCastro, accompanied by Mrs. J.P Watson, organist. Burial was in the Lusk Cemetery.

Surviving besides the parents, are three children, a sister, Laurel Louise, 12; two brothers, Harvey Dean, 8; and Dallas Dan, 5; the paternal grandparents, Mrs. and Mrs. Ewart Hughes of Flattop, and a great grandmother, Mrs. P.K. Christensen, of Alliance, Nebr.
