Octavius Anthony Caligiore

A funeral service for Hartville, Wyoming resident, Octavius Anthony “Steve” Caligiore, 87, was conducted Oct. 29, at the United Presbyterian Church in Guernsey, with the Reverend Bill Walker officiating. Interment with military graveside rites conducted by the Lake Guernsey Veterans of Foreign Wars will be in the Hartville Cemetery at Hartville.

He died Oct. 23, 2007, at his home in Hartville.

Steve was born April 8, 1920, in Hartville, the son of Joseph and Maria (DeCello) Caligiore Sr.

He was reared and educated in Sunrise, graduating from Sunrise High School. Steve joined the Civil Conservation Corps and then enlisted in the Army Air Corps where he served during World War II. After his discharge, he returned to Sunrise and began working for CF and I Mine in Sunrise. He retired from the mine and attended the Wyoming Law Enforcement Academy in Douglas. He worked as a security guard for the National Park Service at Fort Laramie, until his retirement from there. On Aug. 16, 1941, he married Margaret Lucille Harmeier in Rapid City, S.D. He enjoyed rock hunting, archeology, and was a collector of many things. Steve was a member of the United Presbyterian Church of Guernsey, American Legion, and a 55-year member of Guernsey Masonic Lodge #49 and both Scottish and York Rites.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret of Douglas, a granddaughter, Talitha and husband, Kory Fleenor of Lingle, two great grandsons, Dallen and Noah of Lingle; five nieces; numerous great and great-great nieces and great and great-great nephews; and his beloved buddy, June Bug.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Janet Caligiore; three brothers, Warren, Joe and Mike Caligiore; and a brother-in-law, Erving Harmeier.

Memorials to City of Hope National Medical Center, 1500 E. Duarte Road, Duarte, California 91010 would be appreciated by the family.
