So. Dakota Man Dies of Crash Injuries

James Bush, 32, of Igloo, So. Dak., died at the Spencer Hospital here at 3:00 Sunday morning from injuries received in a car-truck collision Friday evening at 6:00 o'clock.

The collision occurred 49 miles north of Lusk on Highway 85. Bush was driving north alone and is believed to have dozed. For a distance of 204 feet his car traveled along the right shoulder of the road. Then, as if Bush suddenly awakened, the car swerved across the road directly into the path of a cattle truck driven by Allen Coates of Edgemont, according to M.S. Jordan, highway patrolman.

The truck was swerved into the ditch and overturned, but struck the Bush car in such a way that the car rolled back to the right ditch and Bush was thrown out on the road.

A third car driven by Charles J. Mohn of Niles, Calif. was dented when the hood from the Bush car flew off and struck the Mohn car, which was following the truck.

Bush never regained consciousness, though he was rushed to the hospital by the Peet ambulance.

Neither Coates nor Tom Wilson, riding in the truck, were injured. Some of the cattle were pinned under the truck, but were freed without serious injury. Coates was hauling the cattle for Wilson into Edgemont.

Bush's home was at Belle Fourche and his body was taken there Monday for funeral services.
