Mrs. Alice Glenn, Lusk Pioneer Dies in California

Word has been received in Lusk, by Mrs. Mae Fields, of the death of Mrs. Alice Glenn, 74, at Long Beach, Calif., on October 13, with funeral services being held the 17th in the chapel of Mottell's Mortuary. Interment was made in Rose Hills Memorial Park at Whittier, Calif.

Mrs. Glenn was a pioneer resident of this part of Wyoming, coming here as a small child with her parents from Iowa before the railroad had been built this far west. The trip was made in a prairie schooner and the town of Lusk had not yet come into being. The town of Silver Cliff, a mile and a half west of the present town of Lusk, was then mostly composed of tents.

When 15 years of age Alice Sharp was married to Robert J. Gamble, who was 27, and they were residents of Lusk for many years. A daughter, Georgia (now deceased) and a son, Robert, were born to the couple. The latter is now assistant cashier of the Omaha National Bank.

Mr. Gamble died while living here and is buried in the Lusk cemetery. A number of years later Mrs. Gamble was married to John Glenn and they are the parents of three daughters. The family moved to Omaha, Neb., a good many years ago, and Mr. Glenn died and is buried there.

Since 1947 Mrs. Glenn has been making her home with a daughter at Long Beach, Calif.

Survivors are her three daughters, Mrs. Alice L. Lindsey, Mrs. Vivian Fay and Mrs. Mildred Gorup, all of Long Beach, Calif., and her son, Robert M. Gamble, of Omaha, Neb.
