John LeBar Dies At Douglas Friday

Funeral services for John D.LeBar, 67, long-time resident and prominent business man of Douglas, were held in that city on Monday afternoon. He died at the Douglas Hospital Friday evening, Nov. 11th, after a lengthy illness.

Lusk friends and relatives attending the services were Mr. and Mrs. T.A. Godfrey, A.F. DeCastro, Mr. and Mrs. R.I. Olinger and Mrs. J.B. Griffith.

John D. LeBar came to Douglas 42 years ago as a young man from his native State of Massachusetts, and soon established the LeBar Motor Company, which is now being managed by his son, John D. LeBar, Jr.

During the forty odd years that Mr LeBar has been a resident of Douglas he has served as county commissioner and as mayor for three terms. Mr. LeBar was always active in the promotion of good highways and took a prominent part in all civic improvements. He was a member of the Douglas Kiwanis Club, a Mason, also a member of the Shrine and Consistory, and a member of the Congregational Church.

Services were conducted by Rev. Gale from the Congregational Church at 2:30 Monday, with interment in the Douglas Cemetery.
The Hoffman Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include his widow, Artie, a daughter, Miss Dae LeBar, and a son, John D. LeBar, and one grandchild, all of Douglas.
