Sarah M. Pate Dies at Sheridan

Mrs. Sarah M. Pate, pioneer of Niobrara County, died in Sheridan Jan. 9 at the age of 74. Funeral services were held from the Champion Room there January 12 and she was buried in the Elks plot beside her husband, the late John L. Pate who died Dec. 21, 1945.

Mrs. Pate was born at Farmington, Mo., Dec. 30, 1875 and came with her parents to Wyoming as a child of four. She was married to John L. Pate Nov. 28, 1895. She was the last survivor of the 11 Saffell children. Since the death of her husband she has made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Frank Rawlings, at Sheridan. She is survived by two daughters, Lila V. Verley of Birney, Mont., and Mrs. Rawlings. There are four grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
