Father of Mann Flint Killed in Gun Accident

Frank Flint, father of Rev. Mann Flint of Lusk, was killed in a gun accident on a ranch near DeBeque, Colo. Friday morning about 7:00 o'clock.

The 66-year-old man was preparing to go out and fix fence on the ranch where he worked. In picking up a 30-06 rifle that stood in a corner of his bunk house, it apparently slipped from the scabbard and went off as it struck the floor. The slug struck him under the left arm shattering the shoulder, grazed past his head and lodged in the ceiling. Mr. Flint went to the door and called John Lathan, one of two brothers for whom he worked.

A game warden and another man were also nearby and while one called to Debeque, the others stated the 20 miles to that town, but Mr. Flint died enroute.

He was a lover of the outdoors and had always worked with guns. On the one that shot him he had developed a hair trigger.

Funeral services were held in DeBeque Monday afternoon with many of the old time cattle men and others attending. Mrs. Mann Flint, who is a co-pastor with her husband of the Lusk Open Bible Church, conducted the services.

Frank Flint is survived by his wife, who was ill in Glendale, three daughters and the son of Lusk. Mr. Flint visited here in October.

The Mann Flints left here early Saturday morning, closing their photo studio and returned Tuesday evening.
