Emmit Bone

Emmit Bone was born on April 28th, 1901 in Corydon, Iowa to Charles E. and Alice Rockwell Bone. He died at the Niobrara County Nursing Home on January 16, 1985.

When he was a boy of about 12, he moved with his family to Holyoke, Colorado. He received his education at a country school near his home. When he grew older, he and his brother Fred went into the farming business with their father and later managed it themselves as their father wasn't well.

He met and married Edith Fullerton in 1929 and moved to the Jireh and Keeline communities where he ranched and farmed. To this union was born a son, Donald. Emmit later moved with his family to their ranch 5 miles southwest of Lusk. He later became ill and resided in the Niobrara County Nursing Home until his death.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, two sisters and his wife Edith.

He is survived by his son Donald, three grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and his sister, Lettie Butterfield of Denver, Colorado.

Memorial services were held at Peet Mortuary Chapel January 19.

Officiating was Rev. Roy Howell.

Music was by Minerva Watson organist and Darryl Manring sang "Old Rugged Cross" and "Beyond the Sunset".

Active pallbearers were Curly Johnson, Lee James, Verle Ellis, Orville Leroud, Vern Modine and Phil Brewster.

Interment was in the Lusk Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Niobrara County Nursing Home.

Arrangements were by the Peet Mortuary.
