Ben Freeman of Lance Creek Dies From Injuries in Fall From Horse Last Thursday

Ben Freeman, about 70 years old, rancher near Lance Creek, died at the Lusk Hospital, Monday morning, from a broken neck, received when he was thrown from his horse last Thursday, while rounding up horses at his ranch.

While gathering up horses, Mr. Freeman's horse stepped in a hole, and he was thrown about twenty feet ahead of his horse, lighting squarely on his forehead. The doctor was called, and after examination he was removed to the Lusk Hospital, where an X-ray revealed a basal fracture and a partial dislocation of the cervical vertebrae. He was partially paralyzed from his neck down, but maintained his hold on life until Monday morning, when he passed away.

Funeral services wee held Wednesday afternoon at the Baptist Church, with Rev. Farrar officating, arrangements being made by the George Earl Peet mortuary, with interment in the Lusk Cemetery.

Mr. Freeman was born in Kentucky on September 21, 1858, and came to Wyoming 12 years ago.

He is survived by five daughters, Mrs. Bert Ripley and Mrs. Carrico of north of Lusk; Mrs. Tom Smith of Lusk; a daughter in Nebraska and one in Washington. He has a sister in Indiana and one in Florida.
