Mary Tschacher

Funeral services for Mary Louise Tschacher, age 77, of Shawnee, were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday July 1 at Pier Funeral Home in Lusk, with Pastor Brent Venable of the Manville Community Alliance Church officiating. Interment in the Dell View Cemetery in Manville will follow. She passed away Thursday June 26 at her daughter’s home in Shawnee.

Mary was born March 31, 1931, to Arthur and Gladys (Waltz) Ferris in a sod house in Ellsworth, Neb. She came to the Redbird area of Wyoming in 1936 with her parents. The family moved to Manville in 1942. She attended Fairview and Manville schools, and furthered her education with courses in health, nutrition, bookkeeping and computers.

She and Lloyd William Tschacher were wed Dec. 22, 1953. They were married for 37 years, farming and ranching together, until Lloyd passed away in 1990. Mary worked for 18 years in the Niobrara County School District as the cook for the Manville school lunchroom. She also worked at several restaurants in the Lusk and Manville areas, and worked as relief at the Manville Post Office. She belonged to the Manville Homemakers Club for many years, and to the Manville Community Alliance Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Lloyd, a sister, three brothers, and a granddaughter.

She is survived by her daughter, Raelene Stull of Shawnee; three grandsons: Justin, Jesse and Jedidiah Stull; sister, Elsie M. Largent of Kentucky; and brothers Clifford Ferris of Lusk, and Laurence Ferris of Torrington.

Pier Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
