Hill Boyles Dies Unexpectedly Fri.

Hillburn (Hill) Boyles, 70, died suddenly Friday morning at his home 12 miles north of Van Tassell of a heart attack. He had started to come into Lusk to the doctor when the attack occurred.

Funeral services were held at the Peet Chapel at 2:OO p.m. Monday with the Rev. Frank Bozart in charge. A quartet composed of E. E. Davenport, Dan Christian, Mrs. A. F. DeCastro, and Mrs. Emerson Bonner sang "Just A Closer Walk With Thee" and "The Old Rugged Cross." Mrs. J.P. Watson was organist. Pallbearers were: John Hammond, Harlan Zerbe, Warren Robertson, Harry Sides, Frank Hanson, and Bob Fancher. Burial was in the Lusk Cemetery.

Hillburn Z. Boyles, son of George and Mary Shatto Boyles, was born at Audubon, Ia., October 22, 1890. After his father's death, the mother and nine children, traveling by covered wagon, came to Wyoming in 1898 and homesteaded in the Kirtley area. Mr. Boyles filed on a homestead east of Kirtley in 1909.

He married Velma J. Rice at Harrison March 30, 1918. In September 1918 he was inducted into the U.S. Army and served at Ft. Lewis, Wash., and Camp Merrit, N.J. After his discharge he was instrumental in organizing the Ferdinand Brandstetter American Legion Post in Van Tassell, the first Post organized in Wyoming.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Elma McLean of Lance Creek, and Mrs. Vivian Hank of Lusk; a brother, Roy of Lusk; two sisters, Mrs. Orpha Christian of Harrison, and Mrs. Goldie Church of Casper; and six grandchildren.
