Pearl Peterson retired in 1984 after serving for 30 years as the caretaker of the Ladies Lounge on Main Street of Lusk.

Memorial services for Mrs. John (Pearl) Peterson, 94, were held February 13,1988 at Peet Mortuary Chapel. Rev. Frank Blish officiated. Interment was in the Lusk Cemetery. She died February 9, 1988 at her daughter's home in Spanish Fork, UT.
She was born September 18, 1893, at Hebron, IA, the daughter of Jacob and Mary Mayer. In 1900 her family moved to a ranch in Cheyenne County, NE.
In 1910 she married John Petersen. To this union three children were born: Vernon Harland, Everett DeForest and Viola Vavona. They lived on a farm in Nebraska until the spring of 1929 when they moved to Wyoming, locating on the Archie Sparks ranch nine miles south of Lusk. In 1935, Everett died in the Casper hospital and in 1944 Vernon was killed while employed as a brakeman with the Burlington Railraod in Glendo. They moved into Lusk in 1949 and her husband, John, died in 1954.
She was an active member of the Congregational Church of Lusk. She worked at the Ladies Lounge for 30 years, retiring at the age of 91.
She was proceeded in death by her parents, husband, three sisters and four brothers.
Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Glen (Viola) Thatcher; one daughter-in-law, Mrs. Del (Bernadine) Alter; grandchildren, Mrs. George (Patty) Jugler, Mrs. Gary (Rhonda) Proctor, David DeGroot, Dwayne Peterson, and Mrs. Roger (Aleta) Alter Scott, Betty Alter, and Coleen Alter Cathcart; 20 great-grandchildren and one sister, Marie Haack of Watsonville, CA.
Memorials may be made to the Niobrara County Nursing Home or the Congregational Church.
