Velma Hall Bowman
Velma Hall Bowman, age 84, of Colfax, Iowa, died Tuesday Dec. 28, 2001, at Careage of Newton.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Dec. 22, 2001 at the Colfax United Methodist Church with Pastor Jill Flyr officiating. Burial will be in the Colfax Cemetery. Visitation was held Friday, Dec. 32 at Walters Coburn Funeral Home in Colfax.
Velma Lucille Bowman was born on Nov. 28, 1927, in Van Tassell, the daughter of Burtis Wayne and Hazel Claire (Pullen) Hall. She graduated from Harrison High School in Harrison, Neb. She was united in marriage to Norman Bowman on June 12, 1943 in Kimball, Neb.
She moved to Colfax with her family in 1958. She worked as a steam presser and dry cleaner in Des Moines and Newton before retiring in 1979.
Velma is a member of the Colfax United Methodist Church and enjoyed needle work and quilting.
She is survived by two daughters, Norma Rawlins and her husband Gary of Colfax, and Bonnie Mullenax and her husband Chris of Kenwood, Mich.; a son, Tom Bowman and his wife Terry of Nevada, Iowa; a sister Gemila Stetson of Lusk; five grandchildren, Todd Bowman and his wife Kathy, Melissa Linder and her husband Carl, Skylar Rawlins and his wife Heather, Danny Mullenax and Mariah Mullenax; two step grandchildren, Nathan Liarokos and Kirstin Jewell; and six great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband in 1984; two sisters, Wanda and Arlene; and an infant brother.
Memorials may be donated to the Colfax United Methodist Church.
