Reuben E. Hahn

Reuben E. Hahn of Torrington formerly of the Prairie Center Community, died at Goshen County Memorial Nursing Home Friday, Feb. 22. He was 86.

Services were Monday, Feb. 25, at 2 p.m. at the United Methodist Church with Pastor William Webster officiating.

He was born Nov. 17, 1889, at Omaha, Neb., the son of Jacob and Catherine (Pope) Hahn. He grew up and went to school there before the family moved to Broadwater, Neb., where he lived until serving with the U.S. Army during World War I. Upon his return from the service in 1920, he moved to a ranch north of Van Tassell. He married Ruby Benshoof at Torrington May 1, 1926. The couple moved to a ranch east of Jay Em in 1927 where they lived until retirement in 1968 when they moved to Torrington.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church and the Van Tassell Post No. 1 of the American Legion.

He is survived by his wife Ruby of Torrington; two sons, Merle of Lusk and Wayne of Torrington; two daughters, Bernita Fowler of Billings, Mont. and Arlene Arnold of Baker, Mont.; one brother, Donald of Albequerque, N.M.; three sisters, Jeanette Welsh of Santa Fe, N.., Helen Vanderburgh of Colorado Springs, Colo. and Marguerite Griffee of Denver, Colo.; 12 grandchildren and five great-granchchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother and four sisters.

Burial was in Valley View Cemetery. Memorial gifts may be directed to the Methodist Church, Torrington or Forest Mound Chapel at Jay Em. The Coyler Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
