Ronald "Dean" Brooks, Sr.
Ronald "Dean" Brooks, Sr., passed away on Jan. 21, 2009. A memorial service will take place later this spring in Casper.
Dean was born south of Shawnee, Wyo. to F. Everette and Hazel E. Brooks on April 21, 1929. He was raised on ranches in Niobrara County, Wyo. and graduated from Lusk High School in 1947. He served in the army and while stationed in Fort Riley, KS, he met and wed Betty Marie Frazier, in 1956.
Dean owned and operated a painting business in Casper for many years. He also helped his son Ron in his business for many years following retirement from painting.
Dean loved his work because he was able to meet a wide variety of people and spread his cheer in special ways. Always with a smile in his heart and a joke to tell, Dean was well known for his humor and wit. Besides his parents, Dean was preceded in death by a brother, E. Warren Brooks who died at age 17.
Dean was a wonderful father to three sons, Stephen D. Brooks and his recently passed wife Toni, Las Vegas; Ronald "Ron" Dean Brooks, Jr. and his fiancé Mary Vedder, Casper; Douglas E. Brooks and his wife Lisa Marie, Houston; and grandfather to Laura M. Brooks and her husband Ryan, Chadron, NE, daughter of Ron; Daniel E. Brooks and Brian R. Brooks, sons of Douglas; Michael S. Brooks, Brian E. Brooks, Steven J. Brooks and Heather N. Brooks, children of Stephen; and great-grandfather to Macy Marie Brooks, Michael S. Brooks, Jr., and Kaydyn R. Brooks. Dean will be interned in Lusk, Wyoming at a graveside service at 1:00 PM on Friday, January 23.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Meals on Wheels of Casper would be appreciated by the family. Interment is under the care of Newcomer Funeral Home of Casper and Pier Funeral Home of Lusk.
