Bryon Brewster

Byron Brewster, former Niobrara County rancher and trapper, died Friday at the hospital in Worland.

John Byron Brewster, the eldest son of C. L. and Julie Inez (Hogg) Brewster, was born May 29, 1898. He grew up on his father's ranch in the Red Bird area of northern Niobrara County.

July 24, 1920, Brewster and Maybelle Karen Wiley were married. They lived on several ranches in Niobrara County while their sons Clarence Moulton, now of Laramie, and Logan Brewster, now of Ten Sleep were growing up.

When Brewster wasn't cowboying and ranching he trapped predators "making friends with many ranchers as he helped them save their livestock."

In 1957 Brewsters and their son Logan and wife Kathy bought a ranch on the Norwood River near Ten Sleep. May Brewster died Feb. 23, 1966, and since then Byron has lived with the Logan Brewsters and their son Tom.

Funeral service was May 5 in Ten Sleep.

Preceding him in death were his parents, sisters Ardis and Inez and brother Stan.

He is survived by both sons, four grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and Phil Brewster, Lusk, a nephew.

Memorials will go to the Cancer fund.
