Dr. James F. Walker, Former Head of Congregational Churches This District, Dies Nov. 6th in Sacramento, California

A letter received by this newspaper from Mrs. Newton E. Van Sant, former Lusk resident and who with her family now resides at Boise, Ia., tells of the passing of Dr. James F. Walker on November 6th, at Sacramento, Calif.

Dr. Walker will be remembered by many Lusk and Niobrara county residents as superintendent of the Intermountain District of Congregational churches. He retired in 1937 and was succeeded by Rev. Harry W. Johnson, former local Congregational pastor. Dr. Walker was well known here through his capacity as superintendent, and his daughter, Betty, now Mrs. W. E. Arnold, also will be remembered by many folks in this community.

His death was attributed to hardening of the arteries and complications attendant to advanced age. Dr. Walker was in his eighties. He had resided in Boise until about a year ago when he went to Sacramento to live with another daughter, Edith.

His body was cremated in Sacramento, and the ashes returned to his long-time home in Boise. A memorial service was held at the First Congregational Church in that city on Sunday, Nov. 9th. The ashes of the deceased arrived there the following day when private family services and interment of the ashes took place.
