Maria T. Doty Mead was born in Rochester, Minn. September 9, 1849. She moved in 1874 with her parents to Vinton, Iowa. She was married to Daniel William Mead in 1875. To this union four children were born: George, Mertie who is deceased, Anna and Doty. She was left a widow in 1896.
As a young girl she united with the Methodist church and was a faithful worker therein until she moved to Wyoming in 1906. Here her papers were accepted by the Congregational church at Lusk, of which church she was still a member at the time of her death.
She passed away at her home in Douglas at the age of 83 years and 7 months. It was her wish to be laid at rest in Lusk, where her home had been for so many years - among her old friends.
