Funeral services for Howard Lemuel Cross, who succumbed Friday morning, June 2nd to injuries received Thursday when a bucking horse fell upon him at the ranch of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Cross, were held from the Methodist church at Harrison Sunday afternoon, June 4th, at 2 o'clock. Rev. Linker, pastor of the church, officiated. Burial was made in the Harrison cemetery.

Howard was attempting to "break" the horse and in some manner the animal fell, crushing the boy's skull under its heavy weight. A basal fracture resulted from the fall. Howard was brought to the Lusk hospital Thursday evening, and passed away at 3 o'clock Friday morning, being at the time of death, 25 years, 10 months and 5 days of age.

Howard Lemuel Cross was the only child of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Cross, born in Lyman county, S. Dak., July 27, 1907. At the age of two years the family moved to Sioux county, Nebr., about 30 miles northwest of Harrison, where they have since resided on a ranch.

The young man numbered his friends by his acquaintances, and was regarded as one of the west's highest type of citizens. His activities in the rodeo game added many admirers to his list of friends, and Hundreds of these were in attendance at the final services to pay their respects.

At the church service, a ladies' quartette sang three beautiful and impressive numbers. Pall bearers were Everett Wallace, Lee Shepherd, Ed Jordan, Fay Swope, Ollie Seaman and Bunny Chard, all warm friends of the deceased.
