A sad and distressing accident which resulted in the forfeiting of a little life, occurred at the ranch of Tom Bell yesterday morning 10 miles east of Lusk. Little Tommy Bell, the nine year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Bell, while riding a small shetland pony, had the misfortune to have the saddle turn with him. In falling his foot got caught in the stirrup and the pony became frightened and started across the prairie as fast as it could run. Albert Olinger, one of the ranch hands who was near the boy at the time, caught the pony as quickly as possible, but not until it had run for more than 200 yards, and when he succeeded, found the child unconscious with a fractured skull and a broken arm. He carried the little fellow to the ranch which was about a mile distant, and medical aid was summoned. Dr. Brownrigg drove out as quickly as possible but found the little fellow had passed away. Funeral services will be held this afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Episcopal church, after which the remains will be laid to rest in the Lusk cemetery. The sorrowing parents have the sympathy of the community in their hour of trial.
